Frequently Asked Questions

Q: IS IT NECESSARY TO BE BAREFOOT IN NIA CLASS OR AFRICAN HEALING DANCE THERAPY SESSIONS?

A: Moving barefoot strengthens the foot and promotes grounding in the body.  Moving with bare feet enhances your connection to the earth.

Exceptions may be made for foot injuries or ailments as long as the shoes have not been worn outside or will not damage the floor.

 

Q: ARE YOUR SERVICES APPLICABLE TO ALL LEVELS?

A: Farcia has been trained to teach to all levels in any class. Therefore, Nia classes are accessible to beginning, mid level and advanced participants.

 

Q: WHAT DO I WEAR OR NEED TO BRING?

A: Nia does deliver a cardio workout and you will be working up a sweat. Wear comfortable clothing and, if you desire, bring a change of clothes for after class.

Please bring water so you can be fully hydrated throughout the class.

 

Q: DO YOU ALLOW DROP-INS?

A: Drop-ins are welcome for the Friday night Nia classes 6:30 - 7:30pm at Anasa Yoga in Oakland, CA. For other services, advance registration is required. Please email us at heartbeat@farcias.com.

 

Q: DO YOU OFFER PERSONAL FITNESS COACHING?

A: Customized fitness coaching using Nia Technique and African Healing Dance Therapy can be encompassed in the 1 on 1 sessions and Nia labs.
